Mount Soledad cross in La Jolla gets a reprieve

This cross issue is an interesting one. A) it's idiotic that a war memorial is considered a religious icon. B) it's equally ridiculous that the City of San Diego has fought this so vehemently when they've lost every battle and it has cost taxpayers millions. They should have donated it to a nearby church who offered to take it and put it in a nearly equally visible location.

That said, again, it's horrible the City was put in that position, but once it was, they should have taken the path of least taxpayer cost.

I wonder if it was a horrendous statue of some Muslim icon if the outcry would have been the same (doubt it).
